A return to work certificate, also called a fitness for work or medical clearance note, confirms you are well enough to go back to your job. From Calgary, you can have the full assessment by secure video or phone with a Canadian licensed provider. The assessment visit is covered with an active Alberta Health Card, or $80 without one, and the $60 certificate fee is charged only if you are cleared.

In Calgary, a TelePlus Care return to work certificate is issued only after a full assessment visit with a Canadian licensed provider. The assessment visit is covered with an active Alberta Health Card, or $80 without one. If the provider clears you to return, the certificate is $60. If not, there is no certificate fee.
Clinical content is reviewed for accuracy and scope. TelePlus Care appointments go ahead only when a doctor agrees it is the right call, after a real assessment, and the doctor will explain the next step if virtual care is not the right fit.
Jobs in Calgary range from desk work downtown to running a crane on a construction site, and the same injury can mean very different things for each. Employers in physical or safety-sensitive roles, such as driving for work, operating equipment or working at heights, often want written clearance before you return. A video or phone visit from your condo or house saves a trip across the city while you are still recovering.
Employers often ask for this instead of a sick note. A sick note explains an absence, while the certificate confirms you can safely go back, names the date you return and can set out temporary restrictions, for example lighter work or reduced hours.

The certificate is never issued on request alone. A provider first needs to understand what happened, how you are recovering and what your job involves.

Pricing comes in two parts. The assessment visit is billed like any other TelePlus Care appointment, and the certificate fee applies only when the provider clears you.
Not every visit ends with a clearance. If it is too soon, or the provider needs a specialist report, test results or a hands-on exam first, there is no $60 certificate fee. The provider explains the next step, which could be more time off, a follow-up or an in-person visit.
When the provider needs a hands-on exam, the Sheldon M. Chumir Health Centre at 1213 4 Street SW runs urgent care around the clock, and South Calgary Health Centre at 31 Sunpark Plaza SE is open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. Emergencies go to departments such as Foothills Medical Centre, Peter Lougheed Centre, Rockyview General Hospital or South Health Campus, and Health Link 811 can help you choose.

Bringing these to the visit usually means the provider can decide the same day. Patients in Calgary and the surrounding area, including Airdrie, Chestermere, Cochrane and Okotoks, book the same way.
