If your employer in Alberta wants written confirmation that you are fit to return, start with a full assessment visit with a TelePlus Care provider by secure video or phone. The provider looks at your recovery and what your job asks of you before deciding. The assessment visit is covered with an active Alberta Health Card, or $80 without one, and the $60 certificate fee is charged only if you are cleared.
Book Return to Work AssessmentVisit covered with an active Alberta Health Card, otherwise $80 · $60 certificate only if approved

TelePlus Care issues return to work certificates in Alberta only after a full assessment with a Canadian licensed provider. The assessment visit is covered with an active Alberta Health Card, or $80 without one. The $60 certificate fee applies only if you are cleared to return; otherwise there is no certificate fee.
Clinical content is reviewed for accuracy and scope. TelePlus Care appointments go ahead only when a doctor agrees it is the right call, after a real assessment, and the doctor will explain the next step if virtual care is not the right fit.
Across the province, plenty of people work far from a clinic that fits their schedule, whether that is on a farm, in a small town, on night shifts or partway through a camp rotation. Employers often want a clearance note before someone goes back to safety-sensitive work like operating equipment, commercial driving or working at heights. A video or phone assessment saves a long round trip during recovery.
Employers often ask for this instead of a sick note. A sick note explains an absence, while the certificate confirms you can safely go back, names the date you return and can set out temporary restrictions, for example lighter work or reduced hours.

Every certificate starts with a full assessment visit. The provider decides after hearing about your illness or injury, your recovery and your duties at work.

You pay for the assessment the same way as any TelePlus Care visit. The certificate itself is a separate charge, and it applies only if you are approved to return.
The provider may decide you need more recovery time, or may want more information first, such as test results, a specialist report or an in-person exam. If so, the $60 certificate fee is not charged, and you are told what comes next: more time off, a follow-up visit or an in-person appointment.
If the provider needs vital signs, a hands-on exam or a test before deciding, they will tell you to see a doctor in person nearby. Health Link 811 connects you with a registered nurse for free at any hour, and anything life-threatening needs 911 or the nearest emergency department.

Having these ready helps the provider make a decision in one visit.
