A return to work certificate, also called a fitness for work or medical clearance note, confirms you are well enough to go back to your job. From Halifax, you can have the full assessment by secure video or phone with a Canadian licensed provider. The assessment visit is $80, and the $60 certificate fee is charged only if you are cleared.
Book Return to Work Assessment$80 assessment visit · $60 certificate only if approved

In Halifax, a TelePlus Care return to work certificate is issued only after a full assessment visit with a Canadian licensed provider. The assessment visit is $80. If the provider clears you to return, the certificate is $60. If not, there is no certificate fee.
Clinical content is reviewed for accuracy and scope. TelePlus Care appointments go ahead only when a doctor agrees it is the right call, after a real assessment, and the doctor will explain the next step if virtual care is not the right fit.
Waiting at a city clinic can take longer than the illness that kept you home. Once you feel ready to go back, your employer may want a provider to confirm you are fit for your duties. Doing the assessment by video or phone lets you skip the waiting room and focus on getting back to work.
This is different from an ordinary doctor's note. A note covers the days you missed; a return to work certificate states that you are fit to resume your job, sets your return date and, if the provider thinks it is needed, lists temporary limits such as lighter duties or shorter shifts.

The certificate is never issued on request alone. A provider first needs to understand what happened, how you are recovering and what your job involves.

You pay for the assessment the same way as any TelePlus Care visit. The certificate itself is a separate charge, and it applies only if you are approved to return.
The provider may decide you need more recovery time, or may want more information first, such as test results, a specialist report or an in-person exam. If so, the $60 certificate fee is not charged, and you are told what comes next: more time off, a follow-up visit or an in-person appointment.
If the provider decides an in-person exam is needed, hospitals serving Halifax, Bedford and the rest of the Regional Municipality include the QEII Health Sciences Centre. Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department for anything life-threatening, and call 811 for free nurse advice if you are unsure.

Bringing these to the visit usually means the provider can decide the same day.
